There are lots of types of filters out there, oil, fuel, air, water, etc made by many differant manufacturers.  Is there any specific brand that you've had great success with and other brands that you'd stay away from?

I prefer NAPA/Wix filters, and try to stay away from Fram.  I can't say I've ever had any filter related problems, but the Frams seem to priced so low, it makes me wonder if they cut back on something inside to keep down the price.

K&N air filters are great and they made a measurable difference on a Chev 454 towing an Avion 5'er.

On the MH with a CAT engine, I use CAT filters.  No problems at all with filters there.  Otherwise, I shop at NAPA and ask for a brand I recognize.

Not a simple question and very little factual (or even believable) data. There are some enterprising folks who do some "testing" for whatever that might be worth. Click here for a guy who has tested a slew of oil filters. You can find several of these "tests" out on the web. Take heed in this guy's "disclaimer" section, lots of good advice there and clearly no simple or even one single right answer.

AFE and similar aftermarket air filters outperform stock filters for the most part.
I have used Fram filters for many years and never had a problem. I even used stock production Fram oil filters on my race cars without a single failure.I will probably continue to use them, although the afore mentioned Wix/NAPA are also very reliable filters.
