I think I found another answer to the question of where to hide the litter box: if you Google 'hidden litter box' you will get several hits for covered litter boxes that are designed to look like a planter. They're not cheap, but you could put them anywhere you like.

We did something theoretically similar.
We took a flat top covered litter box and put it next to the couch, with a decorative tray on top to use it as an end table.
Using a $10 box from Wally it was a lot cheaper. Boy those planters are pricey.

I came up with a great litter box idea. I removed a panel on the bottom cupboard in the bathroom area ( I have a Doubletree Mobile Suite with enclosed bathroom)
I put the litterbox into the cupboard, and Peter the Cat has complete access because of the removed front panel.
Then I installed a cat door in the bathroom door and he can come and go as he pleases when he has to go....

Hi, I posted a reply in the "traveling with cats" thread that also answers what we do for this issue (use the shower). Figured it was easier to point you there than re-post the entire thing. :) c-

You might want to check our http://www.esmartcat.com for their corner litter boxes. That may help you locate a suitable place for the litter box.

Thank you for all the great ideas! However, I've always read that there should be multiple litter boxes with multiple cats. We have two cats with two litter boxes at home. With an extended traveling time on the horizon, and the hope of fulltiming next year, I wonder if others do ok with multiple cats and only one litter box in their RV. Thanks much!

We have two katts and a kamper and one litter box. But the katts have always used one litter box so there's no problem. I would suggest you try using one box and see how the katts react to it.

We fulltimed with two cats and one litter box for three and a half years. There were times that we had to clean the litter box more than once a day, but not often.
Our litter box was in a small compartment in the basement of our fifthwheel. There was an opening in the floor of what would have normally been a closet to provide access to the litter box at any time.
This had a couple of advantages:
Odor control: we generally could not smell the cat box in the RV.
Litter control: We almost never found litter on the floor in the RV, even near the opening down to the litter box.
No-mess cleaning: we cleaned the litter box from outside under the main awning. All mess stayed outside.
Our cats were very spoiled. The bathroom "closet" was built as a "cat condo" with multiple levels interconnected by openings:
Litter box in the basement.
Food & water comparment at main floor level.
Two sleeping compartments.
The top compartment was the "observation deck" with its own window (non-opening).
The front of the "condo" had removable doors with PVC pet-cage mesh for visibility and air flow.
The whole thing was covered with carpet for cats to climb and claw. They rarely clawed anything else.
The condo was the cats "safe place". Any time something scared them, they ran to the condo. When we started getting ready to get underway, the cats went to their condo. This is where they rode when we towed.
Uggh! I am having the same situation with our litter box. The only places I can find are under the dining table or in the shower. I guess the shower but I was hoping somewhere else. We have a 31' Jayco Granite Ridge with one slide, (class C) I may have to give up my baby I would hate to but I am so afraid I cat smells.
No real point here sorry just looking for any advice.

You can see a few photos of it here:
It worked out very well.
