Howard.....I haven't seen anything about fishing in the Rio Grande river with your Fold Cat?? Is it not a fishing river?? Are there any lakes close to fish in the RGV?? I figure you're not using your Kayak since you get to canoe weekly!!! Dh is an avid fisherman.

Hmm. How do I say this? The Rio Grande in our area is not much of a fishing river. And there are very few access points to launch a boat. The put-in for our canoe trips are off limits except for the scheduled trips and Border Patrol.
But the bigger issue is safety. The local authorities discourage people from going out on the river alone. Even on our guided group canoe trips, Border Patrol is notified we are out there. In all the border crossings here, there are just enough bad guys to make things dicey. There are very few incidents, but it's just not a good idea to chance it.
The RGV is just not that great a place for personal boating and fishing. The canoe trips help keep us from missing the use of our boats, but we are sure looking forward to getting out in them again soon once we get back on the road.
