Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hello!

Greetings RV-Dream'ers!

Looking forward to starting an RV adventure in Fall 2019 with my family of 5 (me, wife and 3 kids). We plan to go for one or more years and travel all around North America to see the sights.

Since we don't have an RV or TV we will be starting fresh. I have very limited experience towing or driving big rigs, only renting uhaul trailers (usually 12') about a dozen times and in 2014 driving a 26' Penske moving truck about 600 miles. My son, 7 at the time rode with me and helped me with refueling at truck stops (he loved it and I must admit so did I) while my wife drove our Jeep pulling a uhaul trailer.

I am really looking forward to reading the wisdom you all have accumulated about RV'ing and having the opportunity to ask questions of everyone. I have a bit of time to do some research and have already started recently as our timing for when to do this has gelled more. Thus far my thinking is to look at sub 30' bunkhouse model travel trailers (or possibly smaller 5th wheel) and either a 3/4 or 1 ton TV depending on what we end up with. Originally I was wondering if this can be done  with a 1/2 ton TV but I have now resolved that it would not be wise considering we should have about 600 lbs in people alone and I would rather be a healthy amount under capacity than anything.

And then there is schooling to plan out.

Currently we live overseas so I will be researching online until I get back stateside next year. Last summer we got to browse an RV dealer and I looked at a few trucks in person. Needless to say we can't wait : )

Welcome to this form.  I am new here myself.  There is a lot of advice to be found here, quite a bit of it good. smile  A lot can be learned by reading through the posts already here.  And you can always ask questions.  I have learned a lot.
