Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Interior mods

Hi everyone. I have another question. Yes, another one. I never said I wasn't a moron. Have any of you done a fair amount of interior mods in your rigs? I'll be setting up the coach for three cats and the two human slaves. I have done a lot of looking at classified ad pictures and every time I see one of those bench dinettes or the chair behind the passenger seat, I just think, "Get it out of there." So much wasted space. At least to me.

Also will be selling the Onan generator. Anyone who's read my BS knows I don't want an Onan, I don't like them. I'll get a used Honda 2000 with the money, and of course, my beastly solar system.

I'll also get rid of any carpet covering the hardwood. Gotta have space for the kitties to slip and slide and go nuts. VERY important.

Aside from the weight savings (always a plus), I'll sell the stuff I yank out for whatever it'll fetch. Don't know if I'll have enough for an extra LiFePo4 battery downstairs, but I'm hoping so.

Tell me about what you've done, please?

we added small shallow cabinets on the walls between windows and on the floor below a big window where our recliners are located. These cabinets are used to store small items like candles, canned goods and seasonal decorations.

The steps up to the bathroom/bedroom were hollow so I hinged each step to provide access to the hollow space. We store our flashlights and emergency reflectors inside the steps.

We replaced the smaller Flexsteel recliners with two larger ones from Lazyboy.

In the dining area we added a desk unit from Millers Amazing Magic Table... (currently no website for this company) but there are similar desks available. Here's another website with RV desks: countrycraftsmanwoodworking.com/custom-rv-desks/ Our desk allows us to still use the original dining table and chairs.

I'm getting ready to remove carpeting and replace with a wood look floor (laminate or vinyl).

We have some ceiling issues so I may be using some plastic tin ceiling panels to solve the water damaged ceiling over the kitchen/dining area.

Soon after our first short trip with our Mobile Suites to a DRV Suites rally, we sold the original couch in the rear of the coach and both recliners.  The recliners were replaced with a La-Z-Boy Reclinaway love seat.  The space where the couch was went through different modifications until it has become a sewing center for the wife.  We replaced the original dining table with 4 chairs with a buffet style cabinet with pull out table and kept two of the original four chairs.  We also replaced the original ceiling fan with a Hunter fan and have had no issues with the Hunter, and we even gained some more lights (like we needed more lights).

Beyond that, after having issues with the RV refrigerator after 2 years, we took that out, modified the space where it sat, and installed a Samsung French style residential refrigerator.  As I write this, some new flooring is sitting in the coach, ready to have the carpet in the living room removed and replaced with vinyl plank flooring.

Well now, go ON wit yo bad self!!! I don't think a sewing center is in our future, but most of your ideas are terrific!!! Our intent will be full-timing, boondocking with a large solar system (750 watts) and a honda generator as a backup. No Onan for me.
