Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Lifted Jeep Cherokee

I am considering the purchase of a replacement 1995 Jeep Cherokee for my present "95" Jeep. The new to me Jeep that I am considering has a 2" lift. Could it be a possible problem for towing? Is anyone out there towing a "lifted" 4-wheeler toad ? Your comments would be appreciated. By the way, I use the Road Master Tow system.

Thank-you

Larry and Brenda,

I deleted the duplicate thread that you posted in the "Community Chat" category of the forums.  If you haven't gotten an answer to your question here, I suspect it is because very few, if any, of the forum members have towed a lifted Jeep.

I wish I could help you.  I have a nephew that has "loaned" me his Jeep Rubicon while he is working overseas so that I can "exercise" it for him on occasion.  I would never tow his, but his is lifted 4 1/2-inches and also has 37-inch tires mounted onto it.

Hey Rock,

You may want to take a look at this PDF. It is the owners manual for your brand of tow bar. What you are looking for will be found on page 10.

Howdy Howdy GhostRider,

Thank-You very much for the info. Since I purchased the "95" Jeep used of course and it came with the Roadmaster hitch (the real reason for buying the "old 95")in the first place and no warranty material. I never even thought of looking on the internet for the hitch or warranty info. I appreciate the help and the link to Roadmaster.

After reading page 9 & 10, I now know how to measure for correct hitch alignment. And I really think I will be okay with the " 2 in Lifted" Jeep. The present "old 95" has a bit of drop ( about 1 1/2 in )between the MH hitch and the base plate for the Jeep. So, it seems that the "New 95" Lifted Jeep will be just fine.

Now I just hope the "New 95" Jeep will still be available when my son goes to look at it. The "New" 95 has 220,xxx miles on it, but it is this guys First Love (2nd owner for last 18 yrs) and has had exceptional care and maintence. In the past 18 months he has had the V-8 engine and transmission replaced with new (Jasper) rebuilts. 10,xxx miles on engine & not quite 5,xxx on the trans.

Sorry to get so long winded, but I thought I owed an explanation for going from an "old 95" to a "new 95". By the way the "old 95" still runs good @ 235,xxx miles but, the body is pretty much rusted away and pretty rough on the interior. But it has served it's purpose.

Now Monday the 16th my son, who lives 65 mi south of Kansas City (Pleasanton, KS) will drive approx. 35 miles NE to (Adrian, MO) to look @ the "New 95" Jeep and if everything is a go, will purchase it for me and keep it @ his home until we leave south TX to head home which is 100 mi north of Kansas City ( Bethany, MO).

Again, Thanks a Bunch

Larry

Hey Larry,
You like me on vehicles, buy'em and run the wheels off and then keep on going. Good luck with you new '95' and be safe on towing.

Howdy Howdy, Ya'll,

Well I did get the "New 95 lifted Jeep" and as TrailerKing said, "it's doing just fine". Thank-you all for your comments. We are now at our home in Bethany, MO, preparing to sell our home and continue to FT. In fact we are living in our 32' Newmar as we prepare to sell the Ranchette. Then next thing will be to sell the 32' Newmar and go for a 40' or so DP for our FT'ing.

Congrat's on your new toy. Do you plan on flat-towing it or on a dolly?

Howdy Howdy TrailerKing,

We have the "New 95" and added a new RoadMaster Base plate and tow bar system. Towing 4-down. Pulls great, and tow bar is level with MH. Thanks for the encouragement to go ahead and get it.
