Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Saying Goodbye

W had to say goodbye to our 17 year old Bombay, Shadow, today.   You can read about her at: http://www.barbanddave.net/2014_Blog/2014_Blog/Entries/2014/10/31_A_Sad_Goodbye.html

It is something we all know will happen when we adopt these furry companions, but it is still hard when the time comes.

Barb

Jo and I have to agree, Barbara.  Prior to our move to Colorado, our female MinPin was having some major issues, so we took her to the vet.  We suspected that she was in pain because she had back problems.  Our vet looked her over then then told us it was time.  She was 16 years old, and we had her for all but about 3 or 4 months of that time.

Then, just a week or two before moving, our male MinPin started having issues.  He had been blind with cataracts for some time as well as being deaf.  He could no longer traverse any stairs, so we carried him out side every time he needed to go and waited for him.  There at the end, he was becoming lost in the yard, even though he knew it like the back of his paw.  He was 17 years old like your cat.

It is always hard to have to let go, but it's better than letting them suffer.  We still miss both of them, so we understand your feelings.

Terry

Shadow will definitely be missed by more than you two. She was a character and Diane and I also enjoyed being around her and her attitude.

We are right there with you, Barb and Dave. Our Golden Jenny has cancer. They love you unconditionally, and look to you innocently for direction. It just tears your heart out.

So very sorry.

Barb: Our deepest sympathy also. We, too, have senior pets and in the final years, you come to appreciate them even more which makes it all that much harder when they have to go. I am so glad that Shadow found you and it was obviously a "meant to be".

So sorry for your loss! We are traveling with 3 pets - and 2 of them are older and "winding down". Our 14 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Black Lab mix has vestibular syndrome and arthritis and has to be carried down the rig steps. Our 16 year old tuxedo cat (who has been heavy his whole life) has a lot of trouble with grooming, I buy wipes and clean him off, and he sleeps all but maybe an hour or two a day. I know they both have more life behind them than in front of them - it is so hard knowing that!

Hope your happy memories with your pet brings you comfort!

Sorry for your loss.

With all pets, grief is the price we pay when we receive unconditional love.

Oh Barb,

So sorry. It's heartbreaking when those kids pick us and teach us to love them, entertain us and train us then we have to say goodbye.

Barb,

I still mourn so many pets we have lost through so many years. They stay in our hearts forever. Unfortunately, they can't live as long as we do and we have to cope. Wish you the best.

cpaulsen: We are so sorry for your loss also. We have 2 seniors. I guess this thread is a reminder to appreciate your pets every day and also realize how lucky you are to have had the years that you did with your pets.

Our hearts go out to you.   It is hard but the memories of all of the love they give us while we are fortunate enough to have them gets you through.

Sorry to hear about your loss. They truly do become family members and leave an empty spot no one can fill.

I lost my Australian Cattledog, Sage just over 3 years ago still have those bouts of sadness on occassion.
