Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Anyone going to the 2014 WASHINGTON CAMPING RV EXPO

Just thought I would put it out there in case there are any Dreamers in the Washington, DC area that might be going and want to meet up. We will be going, just not sure if it will be Saturday or Sunday yet. We're getting a bunch of snow right now, so it's hard to think of Rving.

There is also an event in Richmond, VA in February.

Gene or Eileen,

We also live in N. VA and plan to attend this show ... probably on Saturday. We're still two years out, but have started the "research" process, on DPs. If you attend on Saturday let me know and maybe we can meet up since we plan to attend several of the seminars. Tim

Tim,

We're looking to start full timing this Spring. We'll put our house on the market February or March. We've done a lot of research and still torn between a 5th wheel and a MH. We have settled on a floor plan we like in both. Have you looked at any dealers around here? We have been to Beckleys, Reines, and Safford.

Let's plan on Saturday and firm up after the holidays.

Gene

Saturday sounds good Gene,

We get back from Kansas on January 3rd. Since you guys are closer to purchasing than we are, my research for DPs has shown that the best way to get the best price is to put out "bids" to 3-6 different dealers across the country, that is, if you're going to buy new. Right now, we're thinking a 1-2 year old unit, but we're willing to search nationwide via RVTrader and some other RV sites. These are DPs which are fairly expensive, so I think the idea is that if a dealer saves you $10k over the others, it's worth the drive out.

In the early '90s I sold a Class C thru Reines RV, but from my research, they have limited inventory when it comes to DPs and probably couldn't match other dealers in TX, TN, or FL. I've not researched 5ers so I can't comment on those, but we have gone inside them at a couple RV shows and they certainly are nice inside. We just plan to travel every few weeks when we full-time and a MH seems to fit our needs/wants more, in addition our other two RVs were MHs so we're more comfortable with them than 5ers.

Tim

Tim,

We're looking at used also. Not just because of price, but from our research it looks like the first owner has a lot of problems to work through and we would rather not have to deal with that, unless the price was right. I'm also searching RVTrader and would consider going across country for a major savings. If you haven't already, try:  http://www.searchtempest.com/  it's a search engine that searches Craigslist nationwide and Ebay, Amazon and oodle.
