Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Adding picture (Avatar) to profile problem

Am trying to download a picture from my computer under my profile page - everytime I hit "submit" the info disappears and no picture downloads.  Any help out there?

John,

Bear with me, just in case that Howard doesn't give you an answer.  I do know that avatar images generally have to be pretty small in size or they won't fit, thus, they may not even load in as your avatar.  I thought there was some place here on the forums or in the profile area that stated what those sizes are.  Some forums require that they be small in both physical size and in kilobyte size. So, I'm going to try to find out what size one's avatar should be to be workable.

John,

I never could find anything on the RV Dreams website with regards to what size the image needs to be for an avatar.  I have sent an e-mail to Howard to see if he knows what the sizes are.

However, I did go over to another forum where I participate and they list the size there for that forum.  Their requirement states this:  "The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller)."

What you might try to do is re-size your image down to that size and see if it works.  At least until I can find out more from Howard.

If you do get your image down to that size and it still doesn't work, I'll do more to get Howard involved with finding an answer.  As the administrator for the forums and website, he has access to the folks that developed the forum software.  They would definitely know.

John,

If you are still having issues with your avatar, let me know via private message and I'll provide you with my e-mail address so that you can send the image you want to use.  I'll try to get it to a proper size, and because I'm a moderator of the forums, I can even put it into your profile if you want.  Or, I can resize it and send it back to you and let you do it.

Terry
