Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Daughter doesn't like RV

Ok I need some advice on how to help my daughter adjust to living in the RV. We have been fulltiming since November. My 4 year old is now telling me that she doesn't like living in the RV. We have 22 ft. Class C motorhome. She sleeps above the cab and my husband and I are on the couch pull out. She keeps saying that she doesn't like it. She only tell me that she wants a house. I can't get her to tell me a reason of why she doesn't like it. We are planning on up-grading sometime next year to a Class A, where we will have more room. Any ideas on how to help her adjust? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest stopping at an RV dealer and showing her what a class A MH is like to get her reactions. She may be feeling cramped in the small class C and seeing what her new "home" will be like may change her mind about RVs.

You can explain that you're going to get the new home as soon as you can and maybe show her that she'll have an area of her own to play in and keep her things.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Ditto::::.................I not sure of how your traveling. Is she among other children, separation from other kids is tough at that age......I had my little ones with me for a year in a campground at that same age , but my coach was alot bigger and there were tons of little ones there durring the summer and that made them happy!!!

Jim has a good Idea..........as you go along moving up into a bigger unit (class a) will give you all a bigger space.........I know you started out on a short budget hopefully this is one of your goals as you go along.

Im not sure of the area of the country your in but this time of year the upper east coast 38 to 40ft units range from 4k to 10k for pre 1999 units and up.

Fla. market in the Orlando area is the same and there are some better deals down there.

I have alot of contacts if I can help...................I do not get involved in the sale, but I can do the research for you in an area and find you something in your price range.....If your interested please PM me and let me know the area you want searched and I will do it for you

Mike

Are you traveling or staying put in one place.

If traveling, show her the wonders of nature. Make the whole experience an exciting learning experience. Even as you travel down the road have her point out specific things...Cows, Silos, Yellow Houses, Trucks...or count the number of cars that go by during the next 5 minutes. Stop at tourist traps let her look around at all of the goodies; indian artifacts, two headed snake, worlds largest ball of twine...all of the fun stuff.

Take hikes and tell her about the plants and flowers you see, the bugs and animals, the rocks you pick up, build rock cairns (stack rocks big to small) along the way.

Camp fires at night ...tell stories, roast hot dogs and marshmallows, make s'mores.

If you are staying put in one place....maybe try a different camp ground/RV park one with kids and more kid type features. And make it an adventure like above...hikes, games, side trips.

According to your other post, I believe she overheard what your mother-in-law said. Children seem to have a very good memory. Like Bear said: keep her occupied. And when its' nice out; do a lot of outdoor activlties.

Thanks everyone. Yeah there are some kids around her age that she plays with. I hope she will change her mind when we get a class A. Thanks Mike, when we are ready I may take up on your offer. We are going to probably wait till we get taxes back. We are in UT right now, but looking at heading to AZ or some where down there. Thanks again everyone. We will take all your ideas to mind and hopefully that will change her mind.

We fulltime with three girls ages, 5, 3, and 1.  We went to a fifth wheel with a rear beadroom with quad bunks so they have there own bedroom. I feel that is what makes them love our rig, and not want to go back to a house because we have talked about it some.
